Should I turn off the heat while I'm away?
This poor family had a water damage in their home while they were away. We admit that most of the water cleanup jobs we do are after someone comes home to a flooded basement or kitchen. One problem we often see is that people will turn off their heat to save money but do not turn off their water. The pipes freeze and break causing flooding on the main floor or basements.
SERVPRO of Temple & Belton reminds you that the best way to avoid a water damage and save money is to lower the heat and turn off the water. Keep the heat at 55 degrees but do not turn it all the way off. Shut off the water and open the tap in the bathroom to release the pressure in the pipes.
